Ambedkar Institute of Technology has a campus that is technically focused and practically oriented. Laboratories and workshops are the backbone of a technical education here. The campus boasts of fully equipped subject based labs and technical workshops to develop practical expertise among students. Various experiments are regularly conducted to enhance understanding of the fundamental theories.
Library is the primary hub for academic support. A well stocked library provides all necessary academic books, reference literature and technical material. It is generally crowded when semester examinations are approaching for the purpose of studies and revision and to prepare for lab related tests.
At AIT, classroom learning goes beyond the four walls of the lecture theatre. The technical and academic education of a student is enhanced by various group assignments, technical term papers and technical projects in group where problems are solved in tandem. Many students often remain back on campus after the lecture hours for finishing up lab assignments, preparing for lab exams or completing a technical project.
Other activities like training sessions, technical workshops and seminars involving eminent guests from the industry keep students attuned to real world technical applications. These lectures and seminars enable students to get an overview about the application based study and scope for internships and job skills development along side academic study.
Student life at AIT is highly concentrated with a strong academic element, with a basic social component. The student body is diverse coming from different regions of India to study engineering and skill development in New Delhi. Majority of students are commuters to and from the campus, while few others are residents of nearby areas.
Spaces within the campus such as common areas and the canteen allow for informal discussions, group study or interactions between the sessions for students. Basic student services provide assistance and support for all aspects of student life and academic study.
The campus canteen is one place students frequent quite a lot. It's the most popular spot for casual meets and group study as also for all types of refreshments and full meals available at reasonable prices.
The campus facilities in terms of daily comfort and life have always remained quite simple but functional so that only essential requirements are met, so that none get into a feeling of a plush living over their studies and academic performance.
Physical fitness of students is maintained through organized sports and physical fitness related activities in open fields and grounds. Students often spend their free time on some sport or other of their choice.
Some cultural activities are also held periodically along with some technical fests.
Technical clubs of various streams and the students participating in them develop interest in specific technologies by working on technical projects, conducting technical seminars and training. The most notable club is the IIC (Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell) of the institute. Such activity-driven clubs maintain a healthy and participative atmosphere in the campus.
The event energy is very limited. Occasionally some small technical festivals and seminars might be organized which increase student interaction and technical competency building in respective fields through interaction.
The environment in AIT has been designed with basic safety features along with a highly reliable student support system in case any student faces difficulty and support for their everyday technical learning challenges. Delhi being the capital city, access and commuting is not a challenge at all given the connectivity of Public transport.
The campus features open and easy to commute spaces which are conducive to a focused learning atmosphere for every student.
It goes without saying that at the end of the day at AIT students have gained substantial amounts of technical knowledge, developed relevant technical skillsets, and have acquired problem-solving abilities. The applied study and learning approach ensure a practical exposure of engineering and its applications.
Students end up with a good understanding of the theories of engineering and their practical implementation through lab and project work.
